Water Engineering is part of a global Water Service Line and includes water/wastewater treatment specialists, process engineers and other discipline engineering professionals with a broad range of technical skills and experience. Currently, these professionals are engaged on a number of challenging technical projects for all aspects of water management including - resource development, municipal water and wastewater, treatment and transportation, produced water management, large scale seawater desalination facility design, beneficial reuse of desalination waste, and more. 

Water Engineering comprises over two hundred professionals in the Americas and over sixty professionals in Europe, Australia, and Asia.  Combined, these experts execute projects of varying size and complexity internationally.

Advisians expertise spans across the full project lifecycle through feasibility, design, construction, and operations. This allows us to recognize opportunities and risks early and influence early phase decision-making to optimize the outcomes.

Through integrated teams we provide clients with a single interface that delivers efficiency and clarity of accountability within the technical team. Our Water Engineering Team is seeking someone with advanced consulting and professional skills who is eager to help establish and develop a professional group within the New South Wales water industry marketplace.

The Service Line requires someone with proven consulting and management skills in the municipal and industrial water industries who is able to provide doer seller services and create opportunity for business growth. This individual should be team focused with proven experience in successfully undertaking professional engineering consulting assignments and managing client interface and project expectations. It would be an advantage if the individual is well connected in the New South Wales water industry and is able to expand the client network of the Service Line.

This role is offered in the Advisian office in Sydney which provides an established consulting office environment with a staff of approximately 130 persons with technical and management consulting capability across a range of disciplines in ports, transport, water resources and resource development. The role will be supported by the established water engineering businesses located in Brisbane and Perth.

Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

Delivery of Water Engineering expertise across management and technical discipline areas

Business development aptitude and propensity and ability to generate an individual workload

Development of a deep understanding of the New South Wales water market

Provide commercial direction to project teams

Comply with project change management processes

Prepare documentation for tender submissions and client requests

Ensure that the engineering services meet Advisian, its clients and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements

Able to make challenging decisions and adjust to a changing business circumstance.

Negotiates successful outcomes that achieve the required objectives and have the support and acceptance of all parties.



Experience and Qualifications:

  • Under graduate Engineering Degree from an accredited tertiary institution

  • 10 years of experience as a professional engineer

  • Chartered with the Australian Institute of Engineers or equivalent

  • 7 years of experience in municipal and industrial water infrastructure

  • 5 years experience working as a Consultant with business development requirements

  • Previous experience working on major water and wastewater treatment plant projects would be considered an advantage

  • Ability to present technical information, both written and verbally, in a concise and professional manner

  • Sound knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements applicable in New South Wales

  • Proven track record of delivering project management and client management services 

  • Up to date knowledge of the current developments and technical innovations in the discipline

  • Flexible to travel within Australia on an as needed basis (<10% of time)
