Principal Consultant Emergency Planning

Location: Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger, Bergen or Stockholm

The role

This is an opportunity to provide and develop technical expertise, analysis, and solve challenges associated with energy sector and public emergency planning and advisory. The emergency planning consultant will develop and refine methods to facilitate risk analysis and decision-making within the energy and public sector. Identifying and solving unique and complex problems that have a broad potential impact on our clients, will be pivotal to the role. The ideal candidate will bring experience from either energy operators or public agencies in the area of resilience planning and crisis management. 

You will:

  • Contribute with specialist knowledge and developing technical approaches to solve site energy and public resilience challenges to internal and/or external clients
  • Executing tasks independently or with limited guidance on new assignments.
  • Manage projects and executing within budget, timeframes and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor developments in the industry and competitors within resilience and emergency planning and to play an active role in recommending areas for future investigation and development to help improve and promote Lloyds Registers competitive positioning within a discipline/area technically and commercially;
  • Representing technical contributions through regular engagement with sponsors and other external stakeholders.
  • Contributing to or leading the development of sections of technical products, such as technical reports and journal articles, and presenting at conferences and technical forums.
  • Teaming with staff across the group and division to share resources and optimize approaches. Contributing to the development of proposals for business and capability development opportunities.
  • Develop business in line with the company strategy and agreed goals

You will need:

  • A strong background in emergency planning
  • 6-10+ years work experience, preferably also some leadership experience
  • An extensive network and suited and motivated to build business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Swedish or Norwegian and English), with a demonstrated ability for writing concisely and clearly.
  • A collaborative approach and attitude to problem-solving, and the ability to work well with inter-disciplinary teams (e.g. with experts in mechanical systems, electrical systems, cyber security etc).
  • Willingness to travel to installations as required by the project.
